Bob's Books 8/21/08

This week was ok. Which surprised me with the quantity of crap i picked up. Expect spoilers.

•Conan the Cimmerian 2 – Thank god there is a connection between Conan and his grandparents. If not the first 2 issues would have been a waste.

•Batgirl 2 – Uh, I could of done without another “ I wanna kill my father story”. I mean if Batman is really going to be out of the picture use this damn issue to make Batgirl relevant.

•Action Comics 868 – “Brainiac Part 3” is just damn good. Gary Frank and Geoff Johns can do no wrong it seems. They are basically re introducing Brainiac and it is incredible. This story is also going to have lasting ramifications. Namely Kryptonians being let free on earth.

•Batman – “R.I.P. part??” do I care what part is it up to? NO! Batman of Zur-En-Arrh?! Yes Batman is capable of creating a different personality to protect him from such an attack. But damn!

Bob's Books - 2 weeks worth

OK, here goes 2 weeks worth of books. Spoilers to come.

•Terry Moore’s Echo 5 – I like this series. It is a great read and is heading in a wonderful direction. Moore has not let down yet and I don’t see it happening.

•Buffy the Vampire Slayer 17 – This damn series rocks. It is just funny and suspenseful. It’s the show all over again.

Comic Con Update

Ok so Marvel is the best at what they do. This is a fact and i dare anyone to deny it. Anyways, this weekend was/is the Comic Con out at San Diego. The big daddy of cons if you will. Reading up on what is coming i was not surprised by the crap DC is going to do. But Marvel is doing sweet things! The main thing that caught my attention is War of Kings.
As you all should know the Kree and Skrulls were involved in the Annihilation events as well as the current invasion. Where are the Shi'Ar? Well they have arrived. Recent events have them ruled by Vulcan, brother to Cyclops and Havok.

It was an ok week. One huge X milestone and more Skrulls. A lot of them! Spoilers to come.

•the Exterminators 30 – I am sad to see this go. I mean you can’t really go on with a series on bugs but it was a good run and I hate to see them go. Damn vertigo does good stuff.

•Green Lantern Corps 26 – This is the gem of DC. No not this particular book but group. If it is green in DC then it is more then likely a good read. This book surprised me and in good ways. Get on this damn series now!

Bob's Books 7/19/08

OH WHAT A WEEK. I am referring to the Dark Knight movie. This weeks books are ok at best. A few gems in the pile of books though. Spoilers to come.

•Conan the Cimmerian 1 – I was disappointed. A story of Conan’s granddad was not what I was expecting. The art changed to an older style too. I am not dropping the book mind you but it was no classic…. So far.

Bob's Books 7/12/08

It was truly a good damn week. Spoilers to come.

•Ultimate Origins 2 – I normally read books in company alphabetical order. Yes I know, I am a geek. But a big geek that can get away with whatever I usually feel like. All that aside I saw the Gabriele Dell’otto cover and just had to read it. His covers are freaking great. I loved his stuff during Secret Wars a while back. Anyways this is a truly great series. How is it that Marvel is pulling off 2 events while DC is struggling with 1?

Bob's Books 7/3/08

OK I missed a week. So here are almost 40 books. Be warned I say crap a lot. LOL

•Echo 4 – I still like this book. It comes out more frequently then Rasl and so I like the growth of the characters and plot. The power of the weird armor is finally being shown more and the influence of the military is in play too.

•Buffy the Vampire Slayer 16 – It’s a new story arc and everyone should jump on this book if they haven’t already. There are consequences from the last arc that are easy enough to understand.

He will be missed. R.I.P. Michael Turner

A short time ago pete sent me a text and told me the news. I am shocked and saddened. I am sure I speak for the whole cast and crew in mourning the passing of this great artist, this great icon.
I remember first seeing his art on Witchblade. I fell in love with his art as well as his character. I was never a fan of variant covers either. His art though was above and beyond and made me get over my punk belief on variants. I gladly picked up his Teen Titans #1 variant. He was also the reason I started to collect Superman a few years back. Those covers were exquisite!

Bob's Books 6/19/08

This was a decent week. One book irked me with it’s schedule and another wowed me. Spoilers to come.

•Rasl 2 – If it wasn’t for the fact that this book comes out 4 times a year it would rock. The problem is that the story is revolving around the mystery of rasl. How am I going to get into a book that comes out every 3 months? It seems like it could be a good book. Hell it is, but you have to be patient.
