Bob's Books 6/1/08

I am late. So sue me. Here are my books for this week. A lot of damn books! Spoilers to come.

•Action Comics 865 – It’s a reinforcing of Superman’s great rogue’s gallery. The problem there is that he doesn’t have a great one. I don’t know. What the hell is DC doing? Sure Supes can sure use a freshening up but to start with the toyman, come on.

•Batman 677 – I was upset at the first issue of this new story arc. And I must say that Pete said I should give it time. Here is the second issue and though I am not as angry about it as I should be. The use of Batman’s family is weak to say the least and the ending seems to be weaker still.

•Final Crisis 1 – It was better then I expected but I really didn’t care to see some of the dull characters in the DC Universe. I mean the first man and the last, and the New Gods are still around even though they died. ARGH!

•Green Lantern 31 – It was another good book from the Lantern Universe. This book is one of the few dead on books in DC.

•Legion of Super-Heroes 42 – I love this book. Totally entertaining and the art is dead on. I so hope the Crisis will not screw this series up.

•Northlanders 6 – I know I am bias, being a great fan of Vikings and what not, but this book rocks. The battles are superb and the characters rock! The first arc still continues on and seems not to end any time soon.

•All Star Superman 11- This is how Superman is done. I mean besides the miserable lateness of this book it is superb. Luthor is incredible and even the art of Quitely is dead on.

•Teen Titans 59 – I like seeing Darkseid going after the Titans. It is a good crossover book. I also hope to see the Titans grow in status after the Crisis.

•New Avengers 41 – I so like the way the Avenger books tie in to Secret Invasion. The whole Marvel Universe is affected by the Invasion and they make the whole Universe interesting.

•Daredevil 107 – The guy needs a vacation. He also needs to move out of his house. This hopefully begins the arc in which he begins to deal better wit the lost of his wife. She being a nut and all. The supporting cast in this book is also great. It is understandable how DD has survived all this trauma, good friends.

•King-Size Hulk – I hate these type of one shots. They have no connection to continuity except for some retelling of crap we already know. Then they go and reprint 3 old ass issues that quite frankly I don’t give a damn about. All this nothingness for $5.

•Immortal Iron Fist 15 – I got on this book due to the rest of the guys raving about it. This is the perfect jumping on point. After a huge story arc they tell the tale of an old Iron Fist. It was great.

•Marvel Comics Presents 9 – This is so being dropped in a few issues.

•Ms. Marvel 27 – Bring on the damn Skrulls already. Getting tired of her personal life. Might even go so far as dropping after the invasion.

•New Warriors 12 – Getting sick of this book too. Nothing going on here. At all! Just a team barely being a team.

•She-Hulk 29 – I like this book. Funny and somewhat serious. It is going to get involved with X-factor soon and also the invasion… I think.

•Thor 9 – I am gad to finally have some drama in this book. Female Loki is such a bitch! Just need Thor to be more involved with the rest of the Marvel Universe and I would be happier.

•Ultimate Spider-Man 122 – this book rocked. Why? BEACAUSE SPIDER-MAN GOT HIS ASS HANDED TO HIM AND LET’S BE REAL A TEENAGE SUPERHERO WOULD GET HIS ASS HANDED TO HIM AT TIMES.

•X-Force 4 – the best action X book out there. X-23 is such a bad ass. If it wasn’t for the age difference I would say she is the best at what she does.

•Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men – NOW THIS IS A GIANT SIZE WORTH GETTING. All story and then some. Get this boo, hell get the damn series if for some sick reason you have not picked up on this. They got rid of Shadowcat for crying out load. That is ballsy!

•X-Men Legacy 212 – it just sucks to be a mutant. There is no such thing as a normal history if you are involved with the X-Men.

•Uncanny X-Men 498 – I like the whole Russian story but the San Francisco story is getting on my nerves. How are the X-Men going to end up with a base out there?

•Young Avengers Presents Stature – I love the depth they are giving this squad. They need their own damn series. NOW!

•1985 – I only picked this up because I love Cheung’s art on the cover and I was surprised to like this. Villains in the real world. As we all know I love me some villains and they have it to boot. Check this book out.

•Caliber 2 – I am usually touchy on people messing around on the whole legend of Arthur but they are doing an ok job so far.

•Hercules 2 – I like this series too damn much. I wish it wasn’t a mini.
