Bob's Books - 2 weeks worth
OK, here goes 2 weeks worth of books. Spoilers to come.
•Terry Moore’s Echo 5 – I like this series. It is a great read and is heading in a wonderful direction. Moore has not let down yet and I don’t see it happening.
•Buffy the Vampire Slayer 17 – This damn series rocks. It is just funny and suspenseful. It’s the show all over again.
•Authority/Wildcats 1 – It isn’t one book. They are both interrelated. It seems the Wildstorm Universe went to hell and the heroes are some how to blame as well as being guilty as hell. What I noticed was that this is the 5th volume of both books. That is sad. Wildstorm is not that old. It has just been handled very poorly. I blame Jim Lee. It was his universe. When it was bought by DC he became a VP and totally stopped working on books. These 2 books at one time were hot but now they are on their 5th restart! What the hell. The Books were ok.
•Detective Comics 847 - I love HUSH he rocks. A great villain with untold potential. His sick origin is being told and it just puts him up there in the Gotham villains club. This is loosely connected to R.I.P. but who cares about that.
•Final Crisis 3 – it is ok. I mean it isn’t stellar and you sure as hell have to wait to the end for the explanations and ramifications. I also found it cheesy how they just up and drafted all these heroes.
•Green Lantern 33 – I love this series. A great way to link Hal Jordan’s origin with the blackest night and not make it crap. Not to mention Sinestro at his best.
•House of Mystery 4 – Vertigo is doing their thing with this book. 2 stories a book and one hell of a mystery. Makes sense with the title and all. The art is on point and the characters are special in a good way though.
•Joker’s Asylum Two-Face – this series rocked. I loved this books take on Harvey. The whole good turned to bad thing and the ending was incredible!
•JSA Annual 1 – I don’t care for earth2. I really don’t it was cool to see an old ass Joker though. I was looking forward to a Power Girl story but nope.
•Nightwing 147 – it was an ok book. Two-Face shows up and yadda yadda! Some how this is R.I.P. related but again, who cares.
•Northlanders 8 – I like this series a lot. Again it is a Vertigo book, so you should rightfully expect a good story and appropriate art. This arc is over so 9 should be a great jumping on point.
•Robin 176 – this book is actually R.I.P. related. Nothing major though. The Red Robin outfit is shown though. Other then that I really don’t know what to say about the book. It explains why Batman may be nuts but I just don’t see that being the end of R.I.P.
•Supergirl 32 – I hate time travel! I also worry about the fact that it will take Supergirl so many decades to get a clue.
•Superman/Batman 50 – I knew this was coming. The moment I saw the issue with a young Bruce driving by smallville. Now it is official, Thomas Wayne knew Jor-El. It sadly enough is written ok.
•Teen Titans 61 – I like the idea of Teen Titans but they have no been the same since Infinite Crisis. They are trying to get the team back to a friendly loving atmosphere. We’ll see.
•Trinity 9/10 – It was ok. Let’s just wait and see mode is on. At least the crap that was the first 3 issues is done.
•SuperPowers Project 5 – I can tolerate this book. I mean they are creating a new universe and it can work. This series just isn’t the great thing one would expect. The planned spin offs should be interesting.
•Frank Frazetta’s Creatures – Great read. Reminded me a little of Hellboy but great nevertheless.
•Hulk 5 – I wasn’t going to pick this up. There was a spoiler online that showed Thor getting his ad handed to him. I was upset to put it lightly. That aside the rest of the book was crap too. Back to the Thor thing, why on earth would Marvel bring back Thor with the Odin Force no less and then have him get his ass handed to him. WHAT THE HELL!! I am not a happy camper and the part that makes it more annoying is the fact that this red hulk is not going to be around much. He just can’t. it would make no sense to keep something that powerful around.
•Invincible Iron Man 4 – I like this series. It actually is good. Then again Adam would say it’s Fraction doing his thing.
•Ms. Marvel 29 – I love this cover. They need to make those pins she is rocking. This is so far the one book that explains what is happening in NY during the Invasion. It’s bad.
•Secret Invasion Fantastic Four 3 – Good riddance!
•Skaar son of the Hulk 2 – I can like this. It could be epic fantasy if not screwed up. It could really work.
•Thor 10 – I am bias so this is a good review dammit! It was good though actually. Balder is Thor’s brother and Loki was the one who told him. Can you say drama down the line. It is taking too long to get anywhere though.
•Twelve 7 – I love the story but unlike Super Power Project they don’t seem to be building to anything except a story. Which in this issue is depressing.
•Ultimate Origins 3 – I am impressed with this series. Really connecting the whole Ultimate Universe. It reminds me actually of what Wildstorm could have been. With Team & and Gen13. They were all connected to Stormwatch too. Anyways this series is good. This issue was low on action but was necessary and a major wow too.
•Ultimate Spider-Man 124 – It sucks to be Peter. I hope he gets some in the Annual. This was a good issue leading up to the Venom Carnage thing.
•Wolverine 67 – Why is it always Thor’s hammer that is the symbol of an ass whooping! What the hell Marvel! That aside it was an interesting issue. This world that Millar is creating could use it’s own book perhaps.
•Wolverine Killing Made Simple – It’s another book to make money off of Wolverine. This one was on how too kill wolverine. Turns out there are several ways. None of which are easy mind you but it can be done.
•Wolverine Origins 27 – they need to get on with it and reveal this big bad guy in Wolverine’s history. This book showed more bad crap Wolverine did and more guilt. Give me a good fight please.
•Caliber/Hercules 4 – These are 2 great books from Radical. The art is superb and the story works. Hercules in my opinion is better but that is my mythology bias speaking. I hope Radical Comics survives.
•Beyond Wonderland 1- WOW! This book has its sick moments. That is the main draw of the Grimm Fairy Tales books. This one I like. You need gore and violence in your life.
•Grimm Fairy Tales 29 – They are some how making fairy tales modern and sick. When you think it is getting old they pull off a great Golden touch remake. Crazy ending too!
