Bob's Books 8/31/08

This was an ok week. Some books rocked but… you’ll read and see.

•JSA 18 – This is a damn gem! The Gog story continues and as the cover shows Magog is shown. I did not see that person becoming Magog. Seeing Kingdom Come Superman’s reaction was great too. Don’t miss out on this book.

•Legion of Super Heroes 45 – I love this book. It is a damn good team book. It has a crap load of characters but they always explain who they are in cool ways. There is some cheating going on within the group. They are finally being aggressive against the haters too. So much is going on and not ruining the fun of the book.

•Northlanders 9 – It’s a new story arc and that is the only new thing. The writing is on point, it doesn’t hold back any of the raw real world of medieval Europe.

•Final Crisis: Rogues Revenge 2 – I don’t care for inertia but the rogues rock! They totally took out this punk crew imitating them in the name of libra. Damn!

•Superman 679 – I need this arc to get to the damn point already.

•Teen Titans 62 – DAMN! Wonderdog is so wrong! This book was great though.

•Teen Titans Year One 6 – Thank God! This series is over.

•Trinity 13 – It was a good comic. Just continuing the story. Nothing major but not crap. I do feel a weekly should have more to it though.

•Wildcats 2 – I like the world being crap. You could do so much more with it. They are too. The back up story was great, with the tease of Team 7 reuniting. It was also a pain due to the fact that it continues in the other World’s End books.

•Avengers Initiative 16 – It was a good fun book. The hope of seeing Skrull Pym killed makes me smile.

•Mighty Avengers 17 – It ain’t easy being Skrull Pym. LOL The dude has issues dealing with Pym’s Punk ass ways. That is too funny!

•New Avengers 44 – Ha! I always knew Reed Richards was too damn smart for his own good. This book proves it. He was the guy who figured it out for the Skrulls on how to be true copies of heroes. Damn dude needs to get Alzheimer’s!

•Daredevil 110 – This was a good end to a good arc. DD needed something good in his life and he sort of got it. Though Dakota is in the Hospital. Man it does suck to be DD.

•Iron Fist 18 – It seems like it sucks to be Iron Fist. #3 is the magic number and he almost knew what that meant. Thank god for friends. That aside this is a damn god book. Get on it.

•Kick-Ass 4 – DAMN! I am shocked and that takes a lot. I did not expect that little girl to do all that. She is my new role model! I mean the cover is rated G compared to the content. Get this book.

•Nova 16 – The original Super Skrull appears and they buddy up for a Secret Invasion adventure. Good book all around.

•Runaways 1 – I heard so many good things about this book, so when the restart came around I jumped on. The book assumes you are aware of their past and adventures. I was left curious like hell to what happened before this issue. This sucks for a first issue. Will give it a bit more but this book irked me. Though the art and story from what I understood was ok.

•She-Hulk 32 – This book was ok. It didn’t do it for me like this series usually does. The Original Super Skrull shows up again. This time going after his daughter jazinda.

•Skaar son of Hulk 3 – He talks. Not much but it’s a start. I hope they don’t do anything abrupt with this book. Everything is building up to be a great alien fantasy story.

•Thunderbolts 123 – I like the sick aspect of this team but I am getting invasion sick already. That aside I am also looking forward to the new direction this book will take after the invasion.

• Ultimate Spider-Man 125 – Venom is back. That’s it.

•Ultimate X-Men 97 – Professor X is a prick. Or he was when he rolled with Magneto. He created Banshee and Moira was currently selling the stuff to fund her hospital. What a bitch!

•Wolverine 68 – Get to the action already. We know wolverine is old and doesn’t want to fight. We also know he will so get to it.

•X-Force 6 – This tied it all up greatly. Even the wings problem was fixed. Who’s next? I can’t wait.

•X-Men Legacy 215 – Same crap as before just with Cyclops and White Queen. Professor X wants memories and everyone is holding a grudge.

•Caliber 5 – The end of this mini. This book ended the mini right and it was superb. Plenty of action and an open ending for future minis.

•Hercules 5 – I preferred this book to the previous one. Ended great and open ended too. Will pick up future minis
